What are you made of?
WHAT ARE YOU MADE OF?
The same water that softens potatoes is the same one that hardens an egg, and the same sun that melts wax is the same sun that hardens clay....
So its what is inside you that makes the difference, not the circumstances you face. What are you made of?
Nothing is new on this earth, whatever challenge you may have faced or are still facing has been withstood by someone else at some point in time. The only difference is your attitude towards it (what is inside you). How you perceive it can make you the strong clay or the soft wax.
Lovely week readers.

Is free flow of capital justified in developing nations?
The resilience of foreign direct investment during financial crises may
lead many developing countries to regard it as the private capital inflow of
choice. Although there is substantial evidence that such investment benefits
host countries, they should assess its potential impact carefully and
realistically. This resilience could lead many
developing countries to favor FDI over other forms of capital flows, furthering
a trend that has been in evidence for many years.
Economists
tend to favor the free flow of capital across national borders because it
allows capital to seek out the highest rate of return. Unrestricted capital
flows may also offer several other advantages. First, international flows of
capital reduce the risk faced by owners of capital by allowing them to
diversify their lending and investment. Second, the global integration of
capital markets can contribute to the spread of best practices in corporate
governance, accounting rules, and legal traditions. Third, the global mobility
of capital limits the ability of governments to pursue bad policies.
In
addition to these advantages, which in principle apply to all kinds of private
capital inflows, its worth noting that the gains to host countries from FDI can
take several other forms such as transfer of technology—particularly in the
form of new varieties of capital inputs—that cannot be achieved through
financial investments or trade in goods and services. FDI can also promote
competition in the domestic input market. Recipients of FDI often gain employee
training in the course of operating the new businesses, which contributes to
human capital development in the host country. Profits generated by FDI
contribute to corporate tax revenues in the host country. In principle, therefore, free
flow of capital should contribute to investment and growth in host countries
through these various channels.
Despite
the strong theoretical case for the advantages of free capital flows, the
conventional wisdom now seems to be that many private capital flows pose
countervailing risks. Countries should view international debt flows,
especially of the short-term variety, as "bad
cholesterol". To what extent is there empirical support for
such claims of the negative impact of free flow of capital?

Its sunshine today..its rainy tomorrow, someone once said too much sunshine makes a desert and the opposite is very true too. So happy Valentine's in advance...lets enjoy while it lasts.

My Dear Admirred One
Judy Thotho 636356
I have been a victim of not finishing some projects that I start, some where along the way the enthusiasm just dies and I can never seem to find it one month after setting the new goal. I try I swear I try to get the excitement back but I just find myself trying to set new goals over and again with the hope that I will be able to smash them all but there are some goals that slip away. I know I need to fight what I truly want to achieve or rather be stuck on the same cycle of life of wondering why I can never seem to get some stuff finished. I envy those people who have already decided what they want to do with their lives , do they wake up with excitement every day while I wake up wondering how short the night was or how the morning is so cold or how I do not have anything to eat for breakfast or my favorite trying to calculate how many more minutes of sleep can I add. The truth is I want to become like them but with various attempts I have learned that it actually takes effort where I have to literally throw away the blankets and do all the things I have planned to do that day. Do guys ever have those people you look up to and feel like if you just had one day with them to see what they do differently from us so that we can be able to work on our goal and actually get to that level that they are in? Well I do have certain people who I think are actually living the life that I desire and all I have for them is respect as from my various trials and error I have learned that it takes great effort to push yourself to stick to your goal long after the thrill, excitement and joy of setting those goals is gone. My dear admired person I respect you for ignoring the loud the masses that have tried to talk you out of their dream simply because they do not understand what your goals are and the naysayers who are only good at keeping count of how many times you may have fallen or slipped and never find words to speak of your effort and success. As I write this I have nothing but love for you My Dear Admired One, maybe one day when life offers me a chance to meet you, you will be able to teach me how to become more like you and if by that time we are already on the same platform I shall buy you a drink of whatever you fancy to thank you for inspiring me even though you may have never heard of my existence until that day.
Truth is , i will never know all there is to know about you just as you will never know all there is to know about me. Humans are by nature too complicated to be understood fully. so, we can choose either to approach our fellow human beings with suspicion or to approach them with an open mind, a dash of optimism and a great deal of candor. Wish you good night guys and sweet dreams.

Healthy bodies
In our daily lives we meet people of different body sizes and shapes and everyone seems perfect in the bodies they are in. Is it society that then makes us discriminate against others who are not like us? Is there a perfect body size or weight as the BMI scale seems to imply?
Our bodies respond differently to the foods we take in and therefore no body has a right to insult another because they may be 'overweight' according to their standards. I believe it is all a matter of exposure, we all have misconceptions about some things until we come to know them better. What is great to me may disgust somebody else therefore we have to learn to embrace our differences.
At the end of the day being healthy is most important. If you are active and eat a balanced diet then you should be comfortable in your own skin.
What is your take on this?
Do you believe in a standard size?
What kinds of food are good or bad and why?
Please share your thoughts!
